Saying "No" to Chocolate.
As stated in Little Annoyances below, I love chocolate but chocolate does not love me. Up until just before Easter, I would have chocolate at least once a day, which isn’t smart when you’re lactose intolerant. Every few days I would pay the price (meaning cramping and many trips to the bathroom). But damn, I love chocolate.
I finally had my fill of feeling badly last week. Just in time for Easter. I’ve been saying NO to a lot of treats ever since. There is Easter candy in my apartment, but I haven’t touched it. There is chocolate frozen yogurt in our freezer, but I have Cuties (soy ice cream sandwiches) instead. There is more chocolate in my office than you can shake a stick at, but I say “No thanks.” I’m astounded every time I say NO. I don’t feel any withdrawal symptoms, no pining for a Kit Kat, nothing. Mind, I’ve replaced my fix with Rice Krispie squares and Doritos, but still.
So tonight we’re going out for dinner, and I don’t plan on having chocolate dessert. However, we’re also going out for dinner tomorrow to a place known for its desserts (I’d link you to their site, but they don’t have one), and chances are yes, I will have something chocolate. Still, I’m doing pretty darn good. If I were double-jointed I’d pat myself on the back.
